I think you're right not to search for translations. I tried and no one can do it justice. It seems to invoke such emotion that everyone's intrepretation is so personal and biased.

Even without knowing what they're saying, you know that based on the timing of the lyrics and how it intertwines with the music that the song is not cliche or trite by any means. They have certainly recognized the form of songwriting and music-making.
